The Social Democratic Party (SDP) is one of the major political parties of Quintessence of Dust politics, and the foremost party of the left. It is presently the leading party of the government coalition and has the highest number of seats in the 48th Quintessential Congress. It also controls more state governorships and legislative seats than any other party, but is less well represented at the executive level.

Founded as the People's Social Democratic Reform Party in 1892 by members of the Quintessential Fabian Society, it changed its name to its present inception in 1909, and spent much of the early twentieth century gathering support at local and state level, whilst holding few federal Congressional seats. Its steadfast support for reformist democratic socialism initially saw it as portrayed as unduly reticent, but this message became more appealing in the wake of the Second Civil War as the party found growing support with working-class activist networks and inclusion in the government coalition, where its members led the introduction of a national health service. It has consistently advocated progressive policies of social justice and civil liberties, whilst being one of the first parties to advocate environmental reform.

Its resolute opposition to the Second Colonial War saw it take over as the dominant party in the Quintessential Congress, where has held more seats than any other since 1988. It has largely resisted the drift to the centre that has eclipsed some modern centre-left parties, and has maintained near absolute opposition to privatisation of public services.
