Third Sunrise of the first Period, the year of Earth Ascension Four Hundred and Ninety Two.

Sophia Byzainti came to be on the Third Sunrise of the first Period, in the year of Earth Ascension Four Hundred and Ninety Two, in the Capital of the Serene^Union, Solarri. Born to a Senior Apothecary and comissioned Officer of the Defence Solarri, the young Kaeneian as was fashion took the career path of her parents in serving the state, opting to enter the expansive halls of The Spire as Data-Adept for Internal Administration. Personnel records from the vast catacombs of the Aengelistoria Dominica's vaults reveal a diligent, focused though not necessarily remarkable individual through primary, secondary and tertiary schooling.

Fate did strike a cruel blow upon the young Kaeneian shortly before her fifteenth birth-echo when her father's starship, and all hands therein, were lost in an exchange of fire between Defence Solarri and Sketchen forces some years following the conclusion of the war which had devastated the surface of the Jovian moon Europa. Proceeding psychiatric reports, as standard upon adolescents in the event of unexpected bereavement, revealed a suprisingly positive belief in the manner of his passing - protecting the Union and carrying forth the will of the Council with a dedication to duty beyond the living.

Using his untimely, though well-remembered passing as a catalyst the maturing Sophia proceeded to throw the full weight of her growing dedication behind employment; surpassing any expectations and for the first time in recorded civil service history, surpassed the rank of Master-Adept upon her eighteenth birthday, to later become a Grand-Overseer scarcely a final year beyond that.

Her ascension to supreme control over one of the Serene^Union's most sprawling and all-encompasing departmental facets was not without controversy. Her predecessor had opted to decentralise much of the actual operation of the department, arguing centralised control over an agency charged with tasks as far opposite as street hygiene to housing construction and maintenance was best left effectively at the discretion of the Provinces themselves.

Such a line of thought incurred much affirmation; the needs of the Provinces were varied, with Solarri requiring colossal habitation towers and Fortuna, living modules built directly into the mountainous rock. Sophia however, felt this an unofficial and haphazard devolution of executive power - delegating responsibility simply to be free of it, and not to the improvement of the Kaeneian people.

A particularly heated debate within the upper chamber of the [National Consultative] House of the Union led to Sophia suggesting her outgoing predecessor (Aged as he was and as a consequence, retiring) had taken the decision to devolve national power to the provincial level for no more than the relief of the burden from his sagging shoulders. She was superficially chided by then Governor-General for overzealousness, but no official reprimand was suggested - All, including the challenged retiree agreed her desire to succeed in state office was too uncontaminated to dilute.

She is relatively famous for being the only Supreme-Overseer to vote against membership of the Triumvirate of Yut, citing the unavoidable eroding of sovereignity, truthful when one considers the loosely federal nature of the alliance.

Sophia Byzainti became the one hundredth and first Governor-General of the Serene^Union, having become the first to take office outwith the normal procedure which dictated that the position was to be of a cyclical nature shared for five year periods between all Supreme-Overseers of the Aengelistoria Dominica. Sophia was the Supreme Overseer whom recieved the most votes following an impromptu election between the heads of department to elect a new Governor-General into office during the constitutional crisis evoked by the effective death of the incumbent, Killthanus.

Sophia faced and indeed continues to overcome the challenges inherent in the dissolution of the Kaeneian preference to total neutrality in foreign relations, which had begun in years passed with the ascension of the Serene^Union to membership status within the Triumvirate of Yut and Non-Democratic Alliance.

Liberalisation has slowly but almost incessently creeped into the law making of the Union's ultimate authority; decisions taken currently unthinkable but a scant decade ago and further evidence of the discomfort and difficulty in absorbing the after-effects of integration. Sophia has effectively found herself ever willing to consider new ideas and approaches, a far cry from the conservative policies, mentioned earlier, which marked her previous tenure as head of Internal Administration.
