The Soviet Broadcasting Sydicate (Советский Передавая Синдикат), affectionately known by simply SBS (СПC), is the central television and radio broadcast syndication in the Soviet Union and one of the largest in the world.

History of the SBS

The Soviet Broadcasting Syndicate was formed in 1959 out of a need for a more centralized and efficient media unit within the vast Soviet Union. It is the conglomeration of complex networks as the Telegraph Agency of the Soviet Union, CNN, and EuroInfo. The SBS is a state-controlled broadcasting syndication that expands into every Soviet Socialist Republic and has residents in all Soviet allies.

Russian Telegraph Agency

The Russian Telegraph Agency (or ROSTA) is the oldest news and broadcasting agency in the Soviet Union. It was founded in 1918 and ran until 1925 under that name. In 1925, upon the founding of the TASS it became known as ROSTA Windows and ran as such until 1935 when the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic became covered by TASS itself.

Telegraph Agency of the Soviet Union

TASS was the single news and broadcasting agency in the Soviet Union until 1945 when the Political Bureau allowed for the founding of several other agencies ran under their cooresponding Soviet republics. This proposed a unique problem to the Political Bureau in order to give information to the population. Thus, the SBS was created.

SBS Now

The SBS was created from all of the entire group of news and media agencies within the current Sovier republics. They agencies of every republic merged under a single name in order to give news and entertainment under a single administration. The SBS currently operates in the fields of internal news, international news, and entertainment for all ages.

The SBS operates through residencies across the world in virtually every country. These residencies operate under directly control of the Central Editorial Committee in order to insure the production of quality news and entertainment in both television and radio broadcasts. Each residency is, however, responsible for its own production if it passes their own Editorial Committee and then sent to the CEC.
