Stammte Berge (Large Mountains) is the largest and highest mountains in Neeutegeen. It is located in the Stammte Berge County. It offers best skiing and hiking conditions. It borders on France and Germany. Its highest point is Hoogspits - 759 metres above sea level. Another high hills are Klüpserberg (741), Tweibruge (733), Mijschen (718), Wieseberg (702), etc.


General

Stammte Berge are the largest mountains in Neeutegeen. It is used as a destination of winter and also summer trips. In the case of global warming, the level of snow have decreased and will decrease further. Its architecture is very specific. You can everywhere see those nice timbered cottages and small cosy huts. Stammtbergstet is most frequently reffered to as a centre of Stammte Berge. Because Lungeloek, which has more inhabitants is located a little bit westwards.


Sport

Naturally, Stammte Berge is the only winter sports centre in Neeutegeen. That´s just it the majority of Newtegenish winter sportsmen comes from this region. It offers good cross country conditions with long tracks, but also Stammte Berge has a lot of ski slopes. In Stammte Berge are placed the both two ski jumping hills in Neeutegeen - Differ and Lungeloek-Esch. A new biathlon area was built recently at Friedrichsthal. It may be the modernest biathlon area in the Central Europe.
