Introduction and How it all began

In 1701, The Holy Empire of Peterscott declared the stoat as it's second national animal due to huge genetic similarities between it and the incumbent peter animal. Another nation, the Free Land of Stoat Mountains who's principal national animal is the stoat, declared it a violation of the Convention on National Icons and discredited it. In return, the Holy Empire of Peterscott replied that it had no right to interfere and subsequently withdrew badly needed financial support of Stoat Mountains' National Health Service. THe result in Stoat Mountains was a complete collapse of citizen confidence in the government and mass emigration occurred. The Stoat Mountains Central Government then outlawed emigration and ordered that 100,000 of its supposedly "treasonous" be shot. Claiming to save morality, the Imperial Patriach of Peterscott launched an invasion of Stoat Mountains but Stoat Mountain's remaining patriotic folk started up a Civil Army and put up stiff resistance.

First Battle of The Stoats

On the calm morning of 10th July, 1702, the Imperial Peterscott Army's 28th Division under the command of Major General Louis Porces marched over the De Varhec Ranges to meet the reportedly weak 7th Brigade of The Civil Army under the command of Brigadier General Thomas Kensington. As they reached midway down the steep decline of the last hill, a huge mine blew under the feet of the two foremost brigades and obliterated them instantly. Three other mines went off immediately and destroyed one more brigade and a battalion. While the soldiers were in perplexed bewilderment the 7th Brigade attacked and captured Major General Louis Porces. Immediately after capture, the brigade fled and demanded ransom for the acclaimed leader. In return for their leader the IPA released all the prisoners of war and retreated back to Goggonheim in South Stoat Mountain Province West.
