The TJB-1 Mandrake was one of the earliest military aircraft produced by the late-blooming military aeronautics industry of Tahar Joblis. It is a lightweight 2 man bomber, armed fairly anachronistically with swivel mount 20mm cannon and light anti-aircraft rockets; its small payload and relatively short operational range limit its utility. The Mandrake is used to paradrop UBUs and sometimes normal paratroops; due to its relative lack of utility as a strike bomber or long range strategic bomber, it has declined substantially since the introduction of the more nimble and marginally less expensive TJF-5 Albatross (as well as the highly capable TJB-2 Magus), but remains in service.
