The Republic of Tadjikistan is a massive, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its compassionate population of 4.065 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Defence, although Commerce and Law & Order are secondary priorities. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 65%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing, Book Publishing, and Information Technology industries.

Military spending recently hit a new high, military spending is on the increase, the nation's gigantic air force is both respected and feared, and the nation has recently been attributed to the funding of terrorist organisations. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is a major problem. Tadjikistan's national animal is the crazy fool, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Somoni.

History

After the fall of Communism, the Tadjik republic became a democratic republic, intent on joining the worlds top economies. This was interupted by a Civil war in Octobre 2003 in which the Eastern (mostly Muslim) region was granted semi-autonomy and the Northern communist rebels destroyed. After the Civil war the government spent billions on improving its army but sson realized this would not solve the problem itself. Thus sports received millions and a national team was set up which played its first international matches in the WC13 qualification campaign. Since then the Tadjik national team became one of the better football teams of the NS world, and is still part of the NSWC subtop.
