"First the populations of all nations was set to 5 million (this is the starting population). Although some players do not care about their official game stats, this change angered many players whose nations had large populations. At the time, the game moderators claimed that there was a bug and that nations' populations grew at different amounts. This claim was false, but still managed to fool many players.

The forum titles were also changed. This change was possible because prior to move to the Jolt forums, moderators had more control of the forums."

Not quite. The population bug was real, the "fix" was the hoax. Also, populations weren't really changed, just the display (as anyone who pulled up their XML discovered). Also, moderators had no forum powers on the old forum; however, Reploid Productions was also a Forum Administrator (under the forum handle of [reploidproductions]), so she was able to edit the titles. --Hack (too lazy to log in)

  • Awesome Hack!  :) I'll change the article to include this. We should leave your comments above for the record here. Mikitivity 05:24, 2 April 2007 (GMT)
