Rejistania and Kaze Progressa had actually played each other before - in the second round of World Cup 17. That match, too, ended 4-3 (after extra time). However, the World Cup 18 final was the first meeting of the two sides on neutral territory (Kaze Progressa co-hosted WC17, and the Rejis-KP match took place at The Kick Arena, Paninara).
