The Just Nation of Terra Matsu is a large, hypermodern nation located in the far southern reaches of Nasicournia. Its government, domestically, is firmly liberal with a semi-isolationist foreign interest. It has been in its present state of centrality since 1023CE.

The capitol of Terra Matsu is Kastiya, home of Terra Matsu’s parliament, as well as the residences of the Teri Mata Governor and the President.

Since the beginning of hypermodernisation in 1898, the nation has made huge advancements in technology and environment. It is self-sufficient on natural resources, and exports more than it imports, little as that may be.

Geography

Terra Matsu is located on the far south side of Nasicournia. On any given side of the land, with one major exception, the nation is bordered by water. There is, however, a patch of protected land that does not officially belong to Terra Matsu which also borders it.

The huge majority of the islands are extremely fertile, and were first settled by a Germanic-esque tribe in 932CE (excluding First Nation settling, which is undeterminable). However, there are five mountain chains within the island. Geva and Harzi are on the westlands of Ilëeni (Island One). Snekteng resides on the border of the Hokoni Treslini and Lerianë Mata provinces. Skolopendi is completely within Niyoni Nweva province, and Lauskat takes a chunk of the border of Niyoninweva and the protected lands, a tiny bit of the border of those lands with Terimati, and the southern and eastern areas of Secwiki Mata.

There are few major water sources besides the ocean. The ones that do exist are based in Teri Mata—Lake Kliwatei and Lake Rewizi, which feed the Hàxi, Hauxi and Heuxi rivers. Many small rivers branch off of these, and the rest of the islands are riddled with tiny lakes and rivers which support farming and life.

Despite the country's far reaches, the location is still suitable for life in almost all locations, these being the mountain ranges. The country is usually mild and rainy practically year-round. In some areas, in winter, the weather drops to 0; in other areas, it can drop to -30°C. To contrast, in the summer, the outer areas reach 27°C, whereas in other locations (notably the mountains) the temperature barely reaches 10°C.

As a total national average, 130cm of rainfall occurs.

Provinces

Terra Matsu consists of 5 provinces:

  • Teri Mata
  • Secwiki Mata
  • Niyoni Nweva
  • Hokoni Treslini
  • Lerianë Mata

Government

Government Type

Terra Matsu government, at a very broad viewpoint, is a democratic republic. Representatives represent the majority, and are directly elected by the people to do so. Its government is a bit socialist, too, controlling the major industries (Rail, Communications (to an extent), Electricity, Water).

Parliament (Legislative Branch)

The government is made of a parliament which is bicameral. One house represents the population, and one house represents the five provinces. Parliament members are elected annually.

Judicial Branch

The Matsui judicial branch is made up of several court circuits, in general consisting of a supreme court, several undercourts, provincial courts, county courts, and city courts.

Executive Branch

The government is headed by the president who serves for three years. He/she has nearly final say in what bills are passed, and what aren't; a 75% majority from both houses can override any decision that the president makes. The president also appoints a cabinet and has power over executive office structure.

Economy

As a hypermodern nation, Terra Matsu looks far more advanced than anything that resembles Japan in 30 years. As a result of the modernisation, its citizens enjoy an extremely high quality of life and self-sufficiency. Terra Matsu, being as a whole self-sufficient as well, relies on its deposits of metal ores and, until fairly recently, depended on its large reserves of fossil fuels. (Terra Matsu has since converted massively to nuclear (fission) power, hydroelectric power, and solar power.)

Languages

Terra Matsu's six official languages are Matsui, English, German, French, Greek and Russian. Japanese and Latin hold protected minority language status. In the Matsui Constitution, all of the official languages are made equal—in Parliament, Written Law, Government Services, and Public Education.
