Mennon's Premier competition kicked the season with Menca CC looking clear favourites to claim the title, though the chasing pack all went out with a point to prove.

In the first round of matches, BC Benn scored two hundred's in a match (132 and 145*) as Bramwell CC drew with Chillcote CC; Beeston Fields CC swept aside Port Mennon CC by 10 wickets thanks to a big century from man of the match A Starr; Dalston CC pulled off the shock of the round by beating Mennon City CC by 191 runs, with GH Willis (88 and 106*) leading the way with two excellent knocks; While Menca CC brushed aside MCB Youth XI in a low scoring match where only three players passed the 50 mark, though it was CR Miller who turned the match in it's head with a spell of 13-5 and therefore condemed MCB Youth XI to an innings defeat.

Only 3 matches were played in the second round, with Menca CC falling to a shock defeat against Dalston, after winnig the toss they put Dalston into bat, who obligued by scoring 470ao but then fell to a mere 123ao and were forced to follow on. Though they responded with 416, Dalston CC strolled to victory knocking of the 76 runs required in only 22 overs, though losing 4 wickets on the way. While in the other two matches, Chillcote CC for the second week in a row failed to finnish off the opposition, as Port Mennon CC held on for the draw; and in the final match, Mennon City CC played to tactical perfection losing only 5 wickets in the process of beating Beeston Fields CC by 112 runs.

Like in the second round of matches, the third round again only contained three fixtures. MCB Youth XI picked up their first win of the season against Chillcote CC, winning by 10 wickets thanks to a man of the match performance from AB De Villiers taking 54-5 in Chillcote's First Innings. Meanwhile Bramwell CC came out on top against Beeston Fields CC due to a hundred from SL White and a D Moore fivefor. While to round off the third round of matches, Dalston CC brushed aside Port Mennon CC, amassing a huge 606ao in their first innings, on the back of a JH Willis double centuary and an MD McCoist hundred. This proved to much for Port Mennon, who after following on fell 168 runs to give Dalston victory by an innings.

The fourth round of matches saw Mennon City CC lose again and continue there poor start to the season. The oppenents this time MCB Youth XI swept home by 109 runs, and in the process outlined their credentials as title challangers. While in the other game to take place, Menca CC got back to winning ways with a close fought victory over Bramwell CC, with the pitch at the Bramwell Cricket Ground causing problems for both teams batsmen.

Menca CC charge for the title was again given a blow in the fifth round of matches as they could only draw with Beeston Fields CC in a high scoring game, while their rivals, Mennon City CC, sealed a 6 wicket win against the lowly Chillcote, but a cause of cocern was how Mennon City lost 4 wickets in chasing a mere 61 runs.

The sixth round of matches allowed Dalston CC to consolidate their lead with a convincing 9 wicket win over the lowly Chillcote CC. While their main challangers, MCB Youth XI kept up the heat as they sealed an 8 wicket win over Beeston Fields CC.

The seventh round of matches saw Dalston CC lose their 100% record as they were held to a draw by Bramwell CC in a high scoring game. While MCB Youth XI closed the gap to only 4 points, as they brushed aside second from bottom Port Mennon CC by 9 wickets, thanks to a record breaking 231 by A Jones.

Convincing wins for both Menca CC and Mennon City CC, in the 8th round, closed the gap between them and 2nd place to only 12 points, and now only 16 points off top spot. Their opponents Port Mennon CC and Bramwell CC respectively, were blown away by the superior bowling attacks.

In the three matches of 9th round, Chillcote CC edged Menca CC in a thriller. On a green pitch the seamers dominated with both sides out for less than 200 in their first innings. And despite a 9 run deficet from the first innings Chillcote posted a target of 236, which was always going to be a challange on most pitches. The match ended with Menca bowled out 27 runs short handing Chillcote CC their 1st win of the season. While in the second allowed Dalston CC to extend their lead to 26 points with a convincing win over Beeston Fields CC. This was all despite a man of the match performance from A Starr who posted scores of 60 and 82. In the third and final match Port Mennon CC fell to an innings defeat to local rivals Mennon City CC, thanks to an AJ Ahmead unbeaten 160.

On the back of their win in the previous round, Chillcote CC recorded their second win in as many weeks, in the 10th rounds first of three matches. The losers this time were Beeston Fields CC who succumbed to an innings defeat after watching the hosts post a mammoth 593-5dec. In the second match, first and second battled out a high scoring draw. Dalston CC with home advantage were always on the back foot after they lost the toss, but some poor tactical judgement from the MCB Youth XI meant they had to settle for a draw, missing their chance to close the gap at the top. While the third match was the battle of the bottom two, in a fairly even contest Bramwell CC and Port Mennon CC settled for ac high scoring draw.

The 11th round of matches saw two very one sided games, to mark the half way point of the season. In the first MCB Youth XI cuised past Bramwell CC to record a 304 run win, thanks to nine wickets from BKV Prasad. While the second match was between the two oldest foes in the league, Mennon City CC and Menca CC. Despite home advantage, Mennon City CC were crushed to an innings defeat by Menca's three man pace attack. With seven games gone, Dalston CC lead by a mere 3 points, in the two horse race for the title betwen them and MCB Youth XI, though a good run by either Mennon City CC or Menca CC could bring the sport's greatest rivals into the chase.
