The Crownguard serves as both the garrison force for the city of Akaeia and the elite, crack force of the Imperial Military. At all times, a total of 7,000 men is maintained. These men are drawn on the basis of notable service from the Imperial Armies, and commanded by the very best graduates from the Imperial Military Academy in Dauvanatris. The Crownguard is kept under the direct authority of the Crown at all times.
