The German Alliance

History of The German Alliance

The German Alliance was originally founded as Modern Germany in the fall of 2004, and was founded by the nation of Military Germany. In May of 2005, it was renamed German Alliance by the same nation. In August of 2005, it was renamed a final time to The German Alliance, by the same founder, but with a new nation with the title of Die Deutsche Staaten.

Purpose

The ultimate goal of The German Alliance is to gather all German nationalists from the Nationstates community, and to unite against Fascism and Communism. However, the secondary goal is just to have a good time, and to discuss German politics and other German issues.

Government

Setup

The German Alliance’s government is based on the fundamentals of democracy, where everyone, no matter how small their nation is, gets at least some say in the issue. The following information describes all of the normal procedures for the region, along with some special events that rarely, but may take place.

Checks & Balances

In The German Alliance, a system of checks and balances is used. It consists of three parts, also referred to as the government triangle. The first side of the triangle is the Chancellor, who is the region’s founder. The second is the U.N Delegate, who is elected at NS by all regional members, and the third is the Reichstag (Parliament), which consists of all other TGA members that are members of the forum other than the Chancellor and the U.N Delegate. Each side controls one of the three points used to vote on issues.

The U.N Delegate

Over the months of May, June, and July, U.N voting is not guaranteed, since many people take the summer months off for vacation, and some nations are deleted for inactivity. Therefore, U.N Delegacy may be shut off, and a regional password required, since many NS regions enjoy the summer decline for invasions. In the case that there is no U.N Delegate, the highest-ranking member takes the place of a U.N Delegate, therefore taking place of the missing point in the triangle.

Voting

A new issue to vote on is first brought up by the member who came up with the idea and at least one supporting member on the regional message board. If the two members needed to start a vote are met, the resolution moves to the next stage, which is voting. Voting officially starts when the poll is set up and opened in the forum. In a vote, 2/3 or more of the region’s points are needed to approve a resolution. 1/2 or more of all members in the Reichstag must approve the resolution for the point to be used in favor of the resolution. If the 1/2 or more approval rate is not met, than the Reichstag point is used against the resolution. If a member nation (of any of the three sides of the triangle) does not vote by the deadline set, which is 10 days after the voting is opened in the forum, their vote is counted as disapproval of the resolution. If 2/3 or more of the region approves or disapproves of the resolution before that deadline, the voting ends early. Make sure you know that you want to vote for or against the resolution before you vote at the forum’s poll; your vote cannot be taken back. The Chancellor’s and U.N Delegate’s votes are to be posted under a different forum, which will have no poll. The first posts made by both the Chancellor or the U.N Delegate are the ones that will be counted. If the U.N Delegate is changed during the vote, the one who was the U.N Delegate at the beginning of the vote will be the one who may vote on the issue. Final results will be posted on the regional message board. There is also a 24 hour grace period for complying with the new resolution. If the resolution fails, the process for the same resolution may not be started again for 30 days.

Laws

1. Must have some kind of German flag.

2. Must have a German title.

3. No Fascism or Communism. This includes Nazism. Titles with the name East Germany, but do not display a communist flag or have communist values, may be allowed at the vote of the region (one vote per nation wishing to join). The Chancellor may penalize nations violating this law.

4. No spamming. Spamming will be reported. The Chancellor may penalize nations violating this law.

5. Do not share the regional password w/o permission from the Chancellor.

6. Nations entering the region during an election (excluding U.N elections) may not enter the vote on that issue.

7. The U.N Delegate may not change, activate, or deactivate the regional password.

8. The U.N Delegate may not allow another nation to join without first consulting the Chancellor if a password is active.

Penalization & Appeal

Penalization for breaking a regional law (excluding those with the punishment included) or breaking any other rule listed in this page is up to the Chancellor. However, if the nation appeals the penalty either 24 hours after the penalty is decided or sooner, a normal vote is used to settle the issue. However, the member being penalized may not vote. The options in such a vote are either to undo the punishment against the defending member, or to continue with penalization of the defending member. If approval of punishment is gained, than the U.N Delegate (If the U.N Delegate is being punished, it is up to the Chancellor. If there is currently no U.N Delegate, the top-ranking member may choose the punishment.) may choose the punishment. The punishment may not break any NS rules or regulations.

Ranking System & Web Addresses

Ranking System

This is the ranking system used by The German Alliance, which determines who may replace the U.N Delegate in certain situations. I may also use the top few ranking officials to help moderate the forum, if needed. Here are the titles you are able to earn:

0 points makes you a Corporal

10 points makes you a Lieutenant Colonel

20 points makes you a Brigadier General

30 points makes you a Lieutenant General

50 or more points makes you an Imperial General (Imperial Generals are identified by their rank points; for example, a 60 point Imperial General).

NOTE: I will no longer use this system to pick the U.N Delegate.

Here are the ways you can accumulate points:

10 points for being a U.N member. You must remain a U.N member or these points will be removed.

10 points for each successful recruitment. This means the recruited nation must stay for at least one week.

20 points for playing the offsite game. You must remain a member of the offsite game in order to keep your points.

10 points for being a member of the Reichstag.

Current points are listed on this site and occasionally on the NS message board.

Summary

Here is a quick reference to of the two things you need to know about The German Alliance’s government system:

Steps in the voting procedure:

1) Acquire one other supporter of your resolution.

2) Post your and have your supporter post their support for the resolution on the NS message board.

3)Ask the Chancellor to set up a poll in the forum.

4)Vote.

5)The resolution will either be approved or disapproved.

The Government Triangle

There are three sides to the Government Triangle, like a triangle. The first is the Chancellor, the second the U.N Delegate, and the third, the Reichstag. Each has one point of power in deciding a vote.
