The Obsolete
The Obsolete is a Kelssekian television comedy aired on KBC Television. The show focuses on Kelssek and world politics, combining sketch, satire, and news parody. The show takes the form of a news program, with fake commercials and humourous interviews of public figures, as well as character-based personalities like the furious, overtly right-wing commentator Phil Pockley whose rants frequently degenerate into advocacy of Nazism, and the paranoid left-winger Wesley Bragg who is prone to making absurd jumps of logic to unveil capitalist conspiracies.
The name is a parody of the KBC Radio current-affairs program The Current.
Parliamentary Report
One well-known segment which features prominently in the show is Parliamentary Report, a parody of parliamentary proceedings which includes several recurring characters from these fictional ridings:
- Mazinaw - Mucus Hill - A parody of the real parliamentary riding Mazinaw - Nose Hill, the MP is prone to respond during question period by sneezing on the opposite front bench.
- Stoat Pamphlet - who is obliviously incontinent.
- The Minister for Silly Walks - who is narcoleptic.
- Icing - who is morbidly obese, yet makes frequent derogatory remarks about overweight people.
- Two Minutes Unsportsmanlike Conduct - whose speeches are interjected with unnecessary swear-words.
- Riviere-la-Poutine - a member from Beaulac who makes his speeches in French, but is unable to speak French very well and after a few basic words and attempts to substitute English phrases, resorts to Pig Latin. ("Monsieur le president, le... bill, est tres... how you say, unreasonable. Le... les... membre du Pig Head... akes-may a ood-gay oint-pay. It-ay is-ay mperative-iay hat-tay...")
