The EU Regions

The EU has not been founded in the same way as in RL. It was founded by three political leaders who managed to join together many of Europe's countries into one superstate. The three found it difficult to run the whole organisation, as there were so many different ethnic and social groups with, so it was divided into three regions. This made management easier. However in recent years there has been a slide as the Prometheo and Cadian Races have drifted apart, leaving the Trodoneo race to mediate between the two. But these tensions are only slight, and all three of the EU sub-states remain loyal to the original ideals.

Each region elects its own leading cabinet, and this cabinet decides what is right for the future of their respective region, however on a People's Assembly vote their dicisions can be upturned, and if there is enough discontent the leading cabinet removed from office, to be replaced in an election.

Holding the EU together is a large council, each region elects ten representatives to be in this council that decides how the EU is run. However thier power can be upturned by the Grand People's Representative Comittee it is this committee which chooses the President of the EU every five years. Both the people's assembly and the Grand People's Representative Committee are made up of elected city or council officials from a local district. Those who win with the highest percent of the vote in a city or district election. It is their job to find out what the people think and to act upon it.

History

The nations that joined the EU did so because of a massive public outcry when France refused. The countries that had willingly joined (All except Britain and Ireland) decided that a little persuasion was needed. What followed was a series of political arguements between French, British and Irish leaders and the leaders of the EU. In the end the French found that they could not stand alone with Britain and Ireland and chose to join the EU. Not long after Irelend Capitulated because the trade from Europe was priced so high that it was creating a huge economic disaster, Britain Capitualated after that, following the realisation that they were surrounded, and had no-one to run to. Thus the EU was formed.

Physical Information

Geography

The geography of the EU is varied but not drastic. It is a prodominently the large European plain, with many rivers, and forests. However the Southern EU features low level mountain ranges and large areas of Mediterranean Climate plans and highlands.

The land is rich in coal, Iron, Copper, Tin, Bauxite, Nuclear Materials, gold and oil. The north sea is claimed as the nautical territory of the West EU (ooc: In RL the North Sea is ruled by the UK I believe and since I rule this I lay claim to the North Sea.) contains many vast deposites of oil and gas.

Climate

From the freezing northern Reaches of Denmark, to the warm and dry mediterranean lands. The EU has a wide variety of different climates. However generally it has a moderate climate, and most of the EU is in an area of light weather which has cool wet winters and warm damp summers.

Races

The main two races of the EU are Caucasian and Cadian (See the old post on races.) However there are large ethnic groups of North Africans, Arabs, Slavs, Russians and Western Asian.

Government Priorities

Education is our governments priority, so that we can continue to have a society that is educated and able to face what life brings. Healthcare come second, but only just, we pay large amounts of money into research funds, and healthcare is free (unless you count tax). Welfare is important however debter end up in a work prison until thier debt is re-paid, this is only for people with debts that excede ten thousand pounds sterling that aren't arranged, ie a loan or mortgage, and where you haven't paid it off by the alotted time. Pensions are partially state funded, we can pay for a person to have £30 a week the rest they must save up, and special pension savings schemes have been set up for this purpose. Defence is important and we spend our money on improved equipment and training, as well as the industry required to produce tanks etc. Crime is now only a small problem with about 5% of crimes left unsolved, this is because of the spending and ideas we encourage in the police forces.

Military Elite

The Military Elite of the EU is called the Teutonic Legion. It is a three million strong (1 million per sector of the EU) legion of armed troopers, and legionaries. They wear light combat armour that can protect their Torso from most light fire (Already used by certain areas of modern military forces.) They also wear a toughened helmet, which is lined to soften the impacts from small arms. They are equipped with gas masks and tight toughened gloves to withstand most airbourne chemical and biological weapons, and they also have a radiation suit in their packs.

They are armed with Steyr AUGs, Highly accurate and stable short to long range automatic rifles, or Sten Gun Mark VIs, and a Glocker 41 or AP Army 2 pistol, three fragmentation grenades, two stun grenades and a gas grenade.

They are trained in all weather, all terrain combat, and have night vision and thermal imaging googles. They are equipped for light mountainous combat (not like Tibetan mountains, but light ones such as the Alps.) and are sorted into squads of twenty. Each squad has two heavy weapons troopers with a RBR-M79 rocket launcher and C4 plastic explosives. They also have two anti-Infantry officers equipped with a Lewis Gun and the other with a Bren Gun, which though old in design, are found to be incredibly durable and reliable. They also have a Squad Radio, a Medic and a Squad Commander. The most distinguished Squad is called Squad Jagner, lead be the famous Sq. Cmdr. Andrae Molov.
