The UN Secretariat includes the staff that take care of the day-to-day operations of the United Nations and the appointed heads of the UN. These heads of the UN are also often called game moderators. The UN Secretariat is sworn to remain politically neutral when resolving any violation of UN rules.

The Secretariat is indirectly responsible for maintaining and operating a number of UN Committees, which continue to be effective despite their relative invisibility.

The Secretary General resolution was passed on Feb. 6, 2003 mandating that the head of the UN Secretariat, a Secretary General, be elected by all the UN Delegates and that Security, Human Rights, Environmental, and Trade Councils be created. Although the resolution passed by a vote of 1,521 to 597, the UN Secretariat ended up deleting the resolution since its mandates could not be implemented (in other words, the resolution violated the UN rules at the time).
