The Union of Saint Holden Football Associations , referred to by the acronym USHFA, is the administrative and controlling body for the Saint Holden region football. It represents the national football associations of Saint Holden, runs Saint Holden-wide national and club competitions, and controls the prize money, regulations and media rights to those competitions.

USHFA was founded on the 1st of August 1951 in Saint Maria, St Samuel following a conference between the football associations of The Kingdom of St Samuel, The Colony of Bevanbrook, The Holy Empire of Saint Holden, The Emirate of Samah Island, The Colony of Fort Glendale, The Emirate of Makaoui, The Grand Duchy of Mount Francis, The Colony of Stamford Green, The Sultanate of Muhtaseb, The Colony of Barrington Hill, The Allied States of Della Cruz, The Colony of Port Derbyshire, The Grand Duchy of Di Maria, The Principality of Fort Booth, The Republic of Port Cornwall, The Emirate of Abu Hana, The Emirate of Abu Omar, The Grand Duchy of San Nicholas, The Grand Duchy of St Eades and The Principality of Esslemont. The headquarters was initially based in Fransisco, Saint Holden until 1961 when the organisation moved to Port Anthony, Della Cruz

The current USHFA President is Youssef Al Mussdi from Samah Island.


Competitions

International Competitions

The main competition for men's national teams is the USHFA Champions Shield, started in 1952. USHFA also runs national competitions at Under-21, Under-19 and Under-17 levels. For women's national teams, USHFA operates the USHFA Women's Champions Shield for senior national sides and the USHFA Women's Under-19 Championship at under-19 level. USHFA also organises the USHFA Home Nations Cup.


USHFA Champions Shield

The USHFA Champions Shield is held every 2 years, on an even year.

In order to qualify a team must be winners or runners-up in one of the seven qualifying groups. The groups for qualification are drawn by a USHFA committee using a random draw.

Sixteen teams progress to the final tournament (hosts automatically qualify, These sixteen teams are divided equally into four groups, A, B, C and D, each consisting of four teams. The groups are drawn up by the USHFA administration.

The four groups are played in a league format, where a team plays its opponents once each. The points system is used (three points for a win, one point for a draw, no points for a defeat). The winner and runner-up of each group progresses to the quarter-finals, where a knockout system is used (the two teams play each other once, the winner progresses), this is used in all subsequent rounds as well. The winners of the quarter-finals matches progress to the semi-finals, where the winners play in the final. If in any of the knockout rounds after normal playing time, the scores are still equal, extra time and penalties are employed to separate the two teams.

USHFA Home Nations Cup

The USHFA Home Nations Cup is held every 2 years, on an odd year.

The tournament is a knockout competition with 5 rounds, 1st round to the final in which teams play each other only once.


Club Competitions

USHFA Club Champions Cup

Top 4 club teams from each country gain qualification for competition which begins in a group stage and goes onto a knockout tournament.
