United States of Mars presidential election, 2045
The 2045 United States of Mars presidential election was held on Wednesday, Febuary 22, 2045 and saw Lisa Howard become the first President of the United States of Mars. It was the first presidential election and coincided with legislative elections for the Chamber of Representatives and the Chamber of the States.
Lisa Howard won the election with 64% of the vote.
Voting
Voting took place across the country and started at 0700 MST and ended at 2200 MST. Voters had to register by Febuary 12 in order to get ballot papers. The ballot paper for the presidential election was separate from the legislative ballot paper. When voting ended, the ballot boxes were taken to the nearest of 10 regional sorting offices across the country and counted immediately. The result of the election was announced at 0632 on Thursday, Febuary 23.

The turnout was very high at over 80% with 7,300,000 voters taking part.
