Varia Yefremova was born to noted revolutionary Sasha Yefremova (father unknown) in 1966 and orphaned just two years later when her mother was presumed to be among the victims of the Untan government's response to the abortive Bogdanovist Revolution. She grew up in the university town of Acheron on the east coast of the main island, Viriditas, having been adopted by an underground group sympathetic to the Bogdanovist cause. Upon reaching adulthood, she moved to Dorsa Brevia to study Political Science at the town's newly opened University, eventually becoming an influential figure on the matriarchal community's council. She was a key figure in Ecopoeia's 2003 wertewandel revolution and, in June 2004, was elected the nation's first Speaker to the UN.

Yefremova's sensitive and conciliatory approach to diplomacy has helped cement Ecopoeia's position as a respected and influential UN member, though she has on occasion found herself having to heal wounds opened by her irascible Deputy, Mathieu Vergniaud.

2005 proved a momentous year for Yefremova and Ecopoeia, with the passage of resolution 115, Freedom of Conscience, and a two-term stint as UN delegate for the Anticapitalist Alliance. The process of bringing Freedom of Conscience to the docket proved a stern examination of Yefremova's consensus-based approach to the drafting of international legislation, while the ACA delegacy forced both her and Vergniaud to demonstrate most un-Ecopoeian levels of diligence and organisation.

Yefremova's spell as senior Speaker to the UN may well be coming to a close - she is rumoured to be considering standing for the vital position of Speaker for International Relations in the December 2005 elections, plus a growing anti-UN feeling amongst Ecopoeians may well see the nation reduce or even cease its association with the organisation.

Varia Yefremova lives in Dorsa Brevia with her commune-family. She has no children.
