Virsliga Playoff

Every season the number 9 of the Virsliga plays a Playoff against the number 2 of the Superettan to determine who plays in the Virsliga the next season.

Season 1

Number 9 in the Virsliga: Thobbidz
Number 2 in the Superettan: Higglamu

First Leg: Higglamu vs Thobbidz

Higglamu start of fiercely and manage to score twice, just before and just after the break, twice giving a mental blow to the Thobbidz players. However Thobbidz gets courage as Simon Samuelsson, voted one of the best defenders in the Superettan that season, accidently makes an own goal. Thobbidz score a second one just before the final whistle and see their chances of staying up greatly increased.

Final Score: Higglamu 2-2 Thobbidz

Second Leg: Thobbidz vs Higglamu

The Thobbidz players start of fiercely, knowing that an early goal would almost make sure they win the playoff. It takes them 38 minutes however to break the deadlock and immediatly they are scored upon thereafter. Just before the break Higglamu does what it has been doing the whole season in the Superettan, countering very accurately. Thobbidz goes into the break as winners on away goals. During the second half Thobbidz has most of the possession and the fear of losing makes their attacks very weak. Higglamu isn't capable of keeping the ball long enough and isn't able to create any dangerous opportunities.

Final Score: Thobbidz 1-1 Higglamu

Aggregate Score: Thobbidz 3-3 Higglamu, Thobbidz wins on away goals and stays in the Virsliga.

Season 2

Number 9 in the Virsliga: New Salst-Gungen
Number 2 in the Superettan: Mobbilitz

First Leg: Mobbilitz vs New Salst-Gungen

New Salst-Gungen had not managed to finish clear of the bottom two places in the Virsliga and thus, being newly promoted, could possibly be immediately relegating back into the Superettan. With that thought in the back of their head they started of fiercely and immediately went looking for that all important away goal. They got that goal, but the result was only moderate as Mobbilitz had managed to score two times, cheered on loudly by their fanbase.

Final Score: Mobbilitz 2-1 New Salst-Gungen

Second Leg: New Salst-Gungen vs Mobbilitz

Mobbilitz, knowing they were going to be the winners should the score remain 0-0, could have started of very defensively, but instead they chose to go for the early away goal, to force New Salst-Gungen to score at least two goals to have a chance to stay in the Virsliga. With both Mobbilitz and New Salst-Gungen looking for a goal, the crowd saw a very entertaining match, but somehow, no goals. It ended 0-0 and Mobbilitz were promoted to the Virsliga.

Final Score: New Salst-Gungen 0-0 Mobbilitz

Aggregate Score: New Salst-Gungen 1-2 Mobbilitz. After just one year in the Virsliga, New Salst-Gungen immediately drops back into the Superettan.
