Overview

The purpose of the Xixan Weather Service (XWS) is to provide updated information on storms that directly affect transportation networks connecting Xixan to the region at large. XWS uses the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale.

Maps

Though the XWS has numerous maps explaining the rationale for the prevailing winds around Xixan, the most simplistic as found above, best explains the virtual course of winds that bring storms off the cold Xixan Sea. As storms approach the warmer land masses before they eventually hit the continent they tend to speed up making weather forecasting quite difficult for the island of Xixan. Storms have varied anywhere from 10 km/h to over 100 km/h in movement speed when approaching the island. Coupled with this is the unpredictability of any storms when they directly hit the island since the central mountains help direct these weather systems either due east or north east depending on which side of the mountains the main part of the storm hits. This therefore makes any storm heading towards Xixan a virtual threat to hit any or all of the entire island plus helps to determine where on the mainland the storm will head as well.
