ZMI Strategic Deterrent

The ZMI strategic deterrent is made up of fission based and thermonuclear based "Weapons of mass destruction".

ZMI strategic deterrent will be released in a steady level of escalation upon any hostile force which uses "weapons of mass destruction" against the citizen shareholders.

ZMI strategic deterrent can only be released by individual military officers for military reasons under alert level 2 or below, the Gestalt can at any time order the use of the Strategic deterrent forces.

The Very High Energy forces require both Alert Level 1 and Gestalt authorisation to be deployed. Any weapon with the equivalent destructive power of 250 megatons or above is classified a very high energy weapon and placed under the restrictions above with increased security deployed from INT-SEC in addition to the military branch it is deployed by.

Only the Chairman, the Director, or a majority of shareholder representatives can make non responsive alterations to Alert Level otherwise Alert Level change is automatic in response to external stimuli and events.

Military Alert Levels are applicable to the ZMI strategic deterrent forces as follows

Alert Level 1: full release

Alert Level 2: limited release

Alert Level 3: ready for deployment

Alert Level 4: prepare for deployment

Alert Level 5: peacetime

Alert Level 6: emergency stand down

20th to 21st Century

In 1948 the company started the Rocksford high energy weapons research complex to investigate the growing spread of nuclear weapons, there procurement and there production. The Rocksford facility would expand and go on to be the heart of the later Strategic deterrent programs supplying virtually every ZMI nuclear weapons design.

In 1959 the company purchased a 1,350 square mile tract of land for underground live nuclear testing in the Sahara desert under the aegis of a secret East German program to create its own separate nuclear deterrent. The company in too deep and having its first "black archive" dating back to 1913 in the hands of the East German government had no choice but to go ahead or risk exposure, seizure and destruction by the West.

The first device was a primitive but effective 1.8 metric ton fission bomb named "Rattler". Rattler was successfully detonated on May the 3rd 1953 at 8:43 in the morning generating a blast estimated at 18 kilotons. This weapon was secretly procured to be used by the ZMAF NSCAP (Nuclear Strategic Combat Air Patrol) using at first the specifically designed and constructed company aircraft the Type 8 Bomber. The flying wing "A Bomber" was never used in anger and saw just 8 years of secret service mostly sequestered in hangers or under the guise of a passenger aircraft.

In 1969 the ZMDF developed and deployed a 19 Megaton Thermonuclear air dropped bomb codenamed "Blue Dawn". Blue dawn was not designed as a prototype but as an operational gravity dropped bomb. On the afternoon of June the 18th 1969 at 12:39 AM the Dawnhammer bomber "Rampant Rupert" droped a dummy ZMI thermonuclear weapon in the Sahara test zone.

In 1971 the company in great secret developed and tested the RDX-1 ICBM, produced in small numbers for the deterrent of eager Asian corporations in the glowingly deteriorating international environment of the companies home timeline. The RDX-1 was deployed in retaliation on the morning of April the 1st 1979 as the "last war" that ended the old national based structures of the companies timeline. In the anarchy that would follow the RDX-1 arsenal would prove vital to the companies seizure of power and territory in the ruins of what had been global civilisation with the great shareholder families ruthlessness dating back to 1913 finally brutally unfolding. It was the "last war" that allowed the company to claim the position of nationhood as it and many other organisations equally determined rushed to fill the void left in the now battered earth.

To this day the ZMI Strategic Deterrent forces though condemned for there part in the shareholder families final bid for absolute power in the last days of home timeline, the brutal inter MegaCity wars in neo Europe, and the infamous use of tactical nuclear arms in the civil war are still historicaly responsible for the incorporated states effective existance.

In the later half of the 20th and the 21st Century ZMI expended over 23 Trillion rungs on Nuclear weapon research development and deployment. Over these years the strategic deterrent military forces would grow to be over 48,000 personnel strong imbedded in units throughout the ZMDF,ZMAF, the ZMN and eventually the ZMSF. By the end of the 21st century ZMI would posses over 12,348 major delivery systems and 24,230 warheads with the total equivalent destructive power of 13,230 gigatons of TNT. Below are a variety of arms taken from this period.
