Gestalt Class Super Dreadnought

Originally project VN302 was created as a by-product of the ZMN naval think tanks studies in comparative naval psychology. Simply put without an answering Super Dreadnought of there own the ZMN would suffer from lowered moral when facing a force that did posses such a vessel no matter said vessels actual combat effectiveness, coupled with the perception by the opposing force that this would give them a tactical advantage project VN302 was to bare fruit. Given a year of fleet wide analysis and poling of non commissioned personnel and a flood of data supporting there claims the admiralty authorised a design study. The entire VN302 project is however highly suspicious with many believing it just to be a way to allow the ZMN to justify the vast expense and prestige a super dreadnought brings.

The suspicions however were to be ineffective and though opposition from the Citizens First party was raised upon the floor of the citizen shareholders council the admiralty presented both the preliminary design and the results of project VN302 to the naval acquisitions subcommittee. The sub committee for reasons never fully explained granted the vast 49 billion Rungs set up costs of what was now a fledgling Super Dreadnought construction program. Five years of heavy construction and a total of 392 billion Rungs over a staggering 830 billion rung original budget Hull ZMNVH 0393s first support sections began assembly in the SCAPA industrial section. Expected time to construction was a little over 3 years however a mere four months into the project the second city wide civil war broke out. As the Gestalt swept the last madness of the great shareholder families oligarchs into the dustbin of history with brutal efficiency hull ZMNVH 0393 suffered from vandalism and 2 arson attacks which destroyed the prow water jet array. The hugely expensive advanced synthetic alloys which made up her main support structures lay as a vast unfinished skeleton for a further four years as the transition of power and reconstruction of city vital services was carried out.

Under the ZMN transition expansion program initiated by the Gestalt hull ZMNVH 0393 was renamed with no small amount of hubris the Gestalt class SD. Completed 2 years later the ZMNV Gestalt with her sister ship the ZMNV Paramountcy in a crash construction program completed a year later the Gestalt Class SD was to become a major part of the ZMN's operations and a core support of its ability to project power in the post second civil war era.
