The Interstellar Empire of Waterhelper is a massive, economically powerful nation, renowned for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 1.865 billion are highly moralistic and fiercely conservative, in the sense that they tend to believe most things should be outlawed. People who have good jobs and work quietly at them are lauded; others are viewed with suspicion.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Commerce. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 93%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining, Information Technology, and Beef-Based Agriculture industries.
The government awards prizes to television shows featuring stereotype-breaking minority roles, great shark of the seas are becoming popular in pet stores nationwide, the dead are minced up and sold to people in burger form, and 'Mountain Doobie' is widely regarded as the nation's favourite drink. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Waterhelper's national animal is the great shark of the sea, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the united naquadah dollar.
History
World War: The great world war resulted in the destructon of 90% of the world's millatary and the deaths of [an estimated] 6,000,000,000 people. Most cities were destroyed and finacial systems were ruined. There were two factions the Vicor, and the Takanor. The Takanor were tyrants and were disliked, however they held much military might. The vicars provoced the people into revolting but the Takanor killed their own people resulting in most of the deaths. Early int he war however supplies fro rebuiling adn the scientists were stored,b ut even with this many people died leaving the orld with a population of 5,000,000.
Recovery and golden age: The scientists and remaining cavilians needed leadership, because teh vicars also colaped with the loss of most of the worlds population. They found their leader in a charismatic young man who they made king. Recovery was quick with the supplies that were stored. Next the scientists developed many new technology and reverse engineered technology from acrashed alien ship. They lated developed the X-303 and the independance class ship. about fifty years later, warerhelper astronomers found a M class planet [out side of their home system] 11 lightyears away and set off to colonize it with waterhelper's best and brightest
The planet had a outpost on it. It was owned by Theo. However the TDoMM took notice and initiated a battle. It was later resolved in a negotion hosted by Waterhelper.
Genetic engineering age: Genetic engineering was used to make people more aware, stronger, more agile, etc but all withought changing the behaviour of a person. If a person was deamed to agressive for society they were given a implant that controls their agression levels. With this the new king established his reign and was able to sucessfully ustilize the knowledge of the population to its fullest.
Nanite/ expanson era: Nanites were later introduced to make a person heal faster, stronger, able to think better. It amplified the genetic engineering and made people desise resistant, smarter, stonger, more careful, better at stratagies etc. Also during this time many advancements were made in the effeciancy of FTL travel and weapons/defences. Because of this, a large star cluster was found and colonised with protectorates that were leased to other nations.
