The Burnsian Desert is a massive, wealthy, war-torn nation in the region of [[Lazarus]]. At last count, the population was around four billion. The country was involved in several major conflicts, including ones with [[Automagfreek]], [[Communist Mississippi]], and [[TROUSRS]]. TBD has been absent from international relations for several years, so much so that it is unclear whether President-General Mitchell Craig is still leader.

Introduction

From the beginning, The Burnsian Desert's landscape has been marred by war and conflict. Walking through any of the major cities, you will see buildings gutted out by bombs, craters left unrepaired in the streets, and mutilated soldiers begging for money on the corners. The first official conflict in the Desert's history was the Glorious Revolution, where the first Burnsian dictator, General MacGonzo, was overthrown by the popular revolutionary movement. After several years of warlords fighting against each other, one man (whose name has been lost to history) emerged as the National President. This man, known now only as The First, reorganized the government and created the basic template for modern Burnsian government.

History

From the beginning, The Burnsian Desert's landscape has been marred by war and conflict. Walking through any of the major cities, you will see buildings gutted out by bombs, craters left unrepaired in the streets, and mutilated soldiers begging for money on the corners.

The Sal'Path Conference

The Desert itself was a product of several different ancient clans binding together to fight enemies past the southern border. In 12 AD, the nation solidified, and these clans came to form one ruling government entity, called The Sal'path Conference. In ancient Burnsian, Sal'path means 'foe of my foe'. The Conference was formed of represenatives from the six different Burnsian clans. These representatives were chosen via different methods, from voting, to sending the oldest person in the clan, to a lottery. Suffice to say, the Conference did not always agree on matters, and was split up in 571 AD. After the breakup, the nation was plunged back in the the dark ages, with warring clans vying for supremacy.

The First

The first official conflict in the Desert's history was the Glorious Revolution, in 1215 AD. In this war, the first Burnsian dictator, General MacGonzo, was overthrown by the popular revolutionary movement. After several years of warlords fighting against each other, one man (whose name has been lost to history) emerged as the National President. This man, known now only as The First, reorganized the government and created the basic template for modern Burnsian government.

This government was composed of two branches, the Legislate and the Military. Power over all rested with the Legislate, whose leader was the President. The First made himself President, and he controlled the ratification of laws. He was advised by seven Scholars, whom were trained in different aspects of civil affairs. The Military was controlled by the President-General, who answered to the President. The President-General controls the military of The Burnsian Desert. Over the years, the power over the country has changed hands between the President-General and the President many, many times.
