The Constitutional Monarchy of Gurenn of Gurenn is a small, economically powerful nation, renowned for its absence of drug laws. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 10 million enjoy great individual freedoms in everything except elections, which, where they exist at all, are populist shams for a dictatorship government that has no intention of ever giving up power.
There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, corrupt, liberal, pro-business individuals is effectively ruled by the Department of Commerce, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and Social Equality receiving almost no funds by comparison. Income tax is unheard of. A robust private sector is led by the Door-to-door Insurance Sales industry, followed by Automobile Manufacturing and Beef-Based Agriculture.
The automotive industry soaks up huge government handouts, young children are regularly seen wagering pocket money at blackjack tables, meat-eating is frowned upon, and the alarmingly racist TV show 'Bigtopians Say the Darndest Things' is a hit. Crime is a major problem, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Gurenn's national animal is the Gurennese dragon, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the yami.
