The Hieropylaeans are a proud people, skilled in the art of war but also having made formidable advances in government, the arts, and religion. The people of Hieropylae, as a result of this multifaceted progress, have always fostered a strong sense of nationalism, though more than once in Hieropylae's history their pride has been their bane.

Governmental and military structure

Ceremonially, Hieropylae operates under military rule. The country's leader is sometimes called the High Axiomatic, or High General. The different army factions of Hieropylae, which are called dynamae, act as sort of political parties and thus it is quasi-democratic, but to a fault. The Syncentrose Dynamon (Assembly of Powers), which is composed of a certain number of important people in each of the different dynamae, is a system that came into existence in the 1500's after the Adelphe Wars. The Syncentrose Dynamon is used for checking the actions of the High Axiomatic, who would normally have absolute power. If the actions of the High Axiomatic are so unfavorable as to be opposed by all of the other dynamae, then civil war would only break out if the views of the dynamae opposing the dyname in power were against the Apolemic Doctrine.

Vowels are represented by smaller, simpler symbols above the phoenetic line, phoenetic consonants are represented by a symbol inscribed on the line, and aphoenetic consonants are represented by the same symbols as their phoenetic counterparts, but with a break in the phoenetic line. For example:
