Dubghaul or The Armed Republic of Dubghaul is a reletively new nation with a smaller popualation. It however is home to a rich and vibrant History that stretches many generations.

Dubghaul at a glance:

The Armed Republic of Dubghaul is a small, pleasant nation, notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. This is mostly due to its origins in The Black Desert. The country is run by a president and a few elected advisers and local officials. The president has the final say but is heavily influenced by his many advisers. The advisers elect emissaries to contact other countries but the limit of their power is diplomatic. Dubghaul is famous in the region for its furniture restoration and book publishing.

Government

Dubghaul's government is a republic because the advisors are elected by the people. It is also a bit of a monarchy because the president has the final say. The president has the power to allow or veto a bill based on his views and those of the advisors. There is no permanent congress or senate but the local officials all meet once a month with the president and his advisers to budget for the month and summarize Dubghaul’s progress.

The president

The president if the most powerful Man in Dubghaul. He makes all of the final decisions on most of the important issues. The only issues he does not bother with are issues of diplomacy and local government. He has the power to veto any bill passed locally. The president has 10 advisers that all help in matters of government but only he has the final say. The president serves a 5 year term and may be re-elected several times.

Advisers

The advisers are known as the sneakiest part of Dubghaul government. They are always trying to persuade the president on issues for themselves. As of recently the president has become more independent and we may see an absolving of the ancient tradition of the advisers. An adviser serves a 2 and ½ year term.

Local leaders

Local leaders are elected by the people within the county. There are 20 local leaders in Dubghaul and all of them hold sway within the government. All local government leaders serve a two year term.

Economy

Dubghaul’s economy is geared towards learning and old techniques. Furniture restoration is the biggest industry followed closely by book publishing and Information technology. Dubghaul is adamant about learning and not a single book has been banned from publishing yet. The book “Harry Potter” is a bestseller and is raking in the profits from neighboring nations.

People

The people of Dubghaul were of a Viking descent. All citizens of Dubghaul are free to do almost what they please on a reasonable level. Recently religion has tried to creep in on the nation but the government has had none of it and has remained neutral. The people of Dubghaul are mostly Christian with paganism and Judaism following far behind.

History

Viking like people settled in Dubghaul long ago and earliest records show that there were many failed attempts due to nomadic attacks and harsh weather conditions. After establishing the permanent settle of bdghaul along the Danst river civilization flourished and trade started with neighboring nations (also barely started).

The great religious schism

Early in Dubghaul’s day’s religion ruled all people and the government. But approx. 149AF (after founding) the religious leaders held an inquisition to all non Christian peoples. This event leads to the great religious schism which then changed Dubghaul forever. The people revolted against the religious leaders inquisitors and burned down religious buildings and set up their own neutral government.

The nomadic wars

Nomads from both northern and southern borders were attacking Dubghaul fiercely. This led to a series of wars leading up to only a few years ago. Many of these wars depleted Dubghaul’s population by a dramatic amount. But luckily diplomacy ruled supreme and there is a pact between the three warlords.
