The Republic of Domnonia is a small, environmentally stunning, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its burgeoning Owl population. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 10 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt. They love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.
The government -- a socially-minded morass -- juggles the competing demands of Education, Law & Order, and Social Welfare. The average income tax rate is 42%, but much higher for the wealthy. A large private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing industry, followed by Book Publishing and Trout Farming.
The automotive industry soaks up huge government handouts, the latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller, citizens can be frequently spotted going about their business stark naked, and voting is compulsory while military funding has been stripped back, citizens select which government department gets their income tax Domis each year, and organ donation rates have hit a new low. Same-sex marriages are increasingly common, a well-funded social safety net protects the unfortunate, and the government is attempting to revitalize the private sector. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Domnonia's national animal is the Owl, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Domi.

Algar lies in western Domnonia, it borders the nation of Antrium along the River Isca. Algar is the largest producer of conventional crude oil, synthetic crude, natural gas and gas products in Domonia. Two of the largest producers of petrochemicals in the IDU are located in central and east central Algar. Over 5 million cattle are residents of the province at one time or another, and Algar beef has a healthy worldwide market. Algar is a parliamentary democracy. Its unicameral legislature -- the Legislative Assembly -- consists of 100 members. The government is headed by a Premier. The city of Algaria is Algar's government capital.

The Domnonian Parliament is made up of 31 Seats, representing 31 Counties and City-Districts in 4 Provinces. Each seat represents thousands of voices in Parliament.
The Federal Government is currently lead by Prime Minister Taylor Carlson and the Social Liberal Fiscal Conservative Party of Domnonia(18 Seats). The Opposition Government is currently headed by MP Frederick Dalhousie of the Domini Peoples Party(7 Seats). Other Members of Parliament include the Democratic Party(2 Seats), the Student Party(1 Seat), and 3 Independant Seats.
