History

      Old Founding

Noone knows who first came to Minaria island, but records show people were there 10000 years ago. They split into two factions, Minaris and Minaris Military.

      The end of Old Minaria

Minaris and MM battled for the island for 50 years, until they were so tired they could barely defend themselves, their land burnt down in a single fire during a huge double battle: The Battle of The Capitals. Literally crammed into 10 miles (25 modern-day miles) of land for 40100 people... how they accomplished this is no mystery, as Middle Eastern Earth, a huge empire, purged them that day. Most went into a suicide battle for Kaito, while some fled to the eastern MEE lands, waiting for thousands of years. The few remaining kaito people went there, staying for a millenium...

      New Foundation

Minaris was founded by Maximus Liberatur and his followers after fleeing collapsing governments after WWIII. They met on an island in the ocean. Joining them was a commando who they decided to join and split the land with. They won independence overnight. How, nobody knows... Then the duo joined TGLOTM. Currently a part of TGLOTM, Minaris also has its own island mass outside of TGLOTM.

Recently, the two nations engaged in the 10-Day War. It ended with Minaris military falling into a state of civil war/anarchy.

      NOTE

Economy and Taxes

The money unit, the Minarian (M$) is worth around $0.30 to $0.60. This unit is thereby easy to use internationally. A Minarian is divided into 50 Minaxrics (M# for distinction). The people are enjoying a significant trade surplus.

Income taxes are almost always above 50%, but that is the only tax in Minaris. This tax is increased astoundingly for the rich. Also, the citizens are rewarded with a myriad of services, ranging from astounding healthcare to six months of paid maternity leave, paid for by the government.

Restrictions of Age

Operating a car, boat, or airplane requires a license, which anyone can obtain. Voting requires one to take an Adulthood test (test to be an adult) OR wait until adulthood, which is 18.(The former option is not always available legally. The laws on this change.) After becoming 18, drinking, army enlistment (entirely voluntary), etc. are all legal. However, tobacco use is strictly illegal for anyone, as are any drugs which, used in an enclosed room with the user immobilized (these were tests in labs, not real situations), can cause "second- hand smoke"esque injuries. Doing a crime under drug influence increases the punishment, which is invariably working for the government with no pay for a certain time OR a fine (on smaller misdemeanorlike crimes).

Legal Conviction

In order to be convicted... (under construction)

Crimes

A crime falls under three categories:

Minis- (minor felony and misdemeanor-esque crimes)

Medius- (usually high-level crimes. Associated with property-related crimes)

and

Maxicus- (Crimes of murder, rape, manslaughter, kidnapping, extortion using a human's life, etc.)

-Punishments for Minis include:

Fines

Short labor time

Community service

-Punishment for Medius include:

Longer labor time

High fines

-Punishments for Maxicus include:

Extremely long labor sentence (usually decades to life)

The "labor service" is where the prisoners build stuff for the poor and the government under watchful eyes. They are all chained together and stay in small places for the night. No TV, liquor, etc. Only cheap food and water: just enough to be healthy enough to work through your sentence.

Government

      Basics

A republic with 3 branches, each led by 2 Councils. All members are elected. No states exist.

The Legislature (elected every 2 years (even years)):

Upper Council contains 20 members. Lower Council contains 300 members.

The Executive (elected every 5 years (ex. 2000, 2005, etc.)):

Upper Council- 5 members (Pres. equivalents) Lower Council- 75 members

The Judiciary (elected every odd year):

Upper Council- 10 members Lower Council- 1 10-member court per evey 75,000 people

      Voting

Everyone votes on these people. Everyone gets one vote per council. Whoever gets the most votes gets in (i.e., for the LEC, 1st-75th place gets in).
