Short about the nation

The United States of Schnabo is a tiny, socially progressive nation, notable for its burgeoning Schnaboon population. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 6 million enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.

The large government juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Law & Order, and Education. The average income tax rate is 23%, but much higher for the wealthy. A very small private sector is dominated by the Trout Farming industry.

Voting is voluntary, the alarmingly racist TV show 'Bigtopians Say the Darndest Things' is a hit, and euthanasia is legal. Crime is moderate. Schnabo's national animal is the Schnaboon and its currency is the Schnab.
