The Community of Sober Thought was created in February 2005 for the NationStates game.

The Community of Sober Thought is a large, safe nation, remarkable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed population of 45 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.
The enormous government devotes most of its attentions to Education, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and Commerce receiving almost no funds by comparison. The average income tax rate is 29%, but much higher for the wealthy. A large private sector is led by the Gambling, Beef-Based Agriculture, and Trout Farming industries.
A National Academy regulates grammar and usage, motorists must pay to enter inner-cities during peak hours, there have been reports of people marrying housepets, and the people are famous throughout the region for their bleached-white teeth. Crime is relatively low. Sober Thought's national animal is the fox, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the thought.
Sober Thought is ranked 7th in the region and 58,651st in the world for Largest Timber Woodchipping Industry.
