The Republic of Sapoazul is a tiny, economically powerful nation, notable for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population are free to succeed or fail in life on their own merits; the successful tend to enjoy an opulent (but moralistic) lifestyle, while the failures can be seen crowding out most jails.

The tiny, moralistic, pro-business government devotes most of its attentions to Law & Order, with areas such as Social Welfare and Religion & Spirituality receiving almost no funds by comparison. Income tax is unheard of. A healthy private sector is led by the Book Publishing, Trout Farming, and Soda Sales industries.

Crime is a problem. Sapoazul's national animal is the blue frog, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the sapo.

The dictator for life of Sapoazul is Generalissimo André Magno. One of his first acts, upon coming to power in March of 2005, was to--in a feat reminiscent of Moses leading the children of Israel out of Egypt--move his nation to the region of The Society of the Blue Frog. He has also acted decisively to streamline government. Some have interpreted this as a large power grab. The general populace, however, seem inclined to agree that the Generalissimo is doing what is necessary for the development of the country.

History

Pre-History

The original inhabitants of Sapoazul were natives of the Nacilbuper tribe--known for their strong family unit, fiscal responsibility, free market, strong defense, and their reverence for a particular species of blue frog native to the entire region. The original Portuguese/Jewish settlers named the country after the frog (sapo azul), and the subsequent British colonists named the entire region for it. The coalition of nations known as the Society of the Blue Frog derives it's name from the same source.
