If you were to go to Noviron, to the ruins of the Great Temple, and speak with Honored Sister Adreiara Edanentros, you would begin with the beginning. In the beginning, there was Chaos. The universe was dark and empty except for the flat and featureless world, and the 10 Eternals. The Eternals were there in the beginning, when there was nothing, and will be there again in the end, and thus it is that they are Eternal. There are five female and five male Eternals, and they constantly competing with one another.
One of them, named Kreioren, said to the others, "Let us decide once and for all who is the greatest among us. Let us have a competition to see who can create the best things, and then by our works we will know who is the best of us all." And so the Eternals set about creating. But they grew jealous of each others' labors, and each felt the other was more powerful than they, and so they went out creating things that were better than the others', and things to prey upon those, and things to shake the Earth and disrupt the good the others had done. Thus, we have cows for milk, but snakes and spiders who poison us and bite us. We have chikens for eggs, and foxes who take them. Thus we have fertile soil, and fire-mountains that kill thousands. For this reason the world is not paradise.
And so, despite bringing many good things into the world, the Eternals brought in many equally bad things which plague us. Finally Dauveron, another of the Eternals, said to himself, "I will make a servant for us on this world, from the earth of it, and thus I will prove myself to be the greatest." And so he took the ancestral soils, and he fashioned from them a man and a woman, and he named them Phaelon and Achanaea. And so he touched them on the forehead, and made the Sign of Life, and they breathed and were made real.
All of the Eternals knew that Dauveron had done the best, but they were jealous and so created things to hurt man, and to make life harder for mankind. For this reason we die. But learning of this, Dauveron imparted to mankind the soul, that we might live on forever even after the death of the flesh. And so the other Eternals made the afterlife dreary and dark; but Dauveron made a special afterlife for heros and devout persons, and thereby undid their work.
Achanaea was made beautiful, and Dauveron lusted for her. When Phaelon was out, Dauveron came and forced himself upon Achanaea, in the First Days, when the world was young. And from this was brought forth two children, a male and a female, named Danin and Enna. Because of their heritage, they had longer lives and were immune to sickness. But they were not immortal, and could only use simple magic, instead of the language of creation like the Eternals.
