Fortuna Bay is the geographic, cultural, economic, transport and government centre of The Melanesian Islands. Located here are the local government offices for the Protectorate, as well as the lower courts.
Located in the very heart of The Melanesian Islands, Fortuna Bay boasts an impressive port and navy base, as well as a very busy, modern airport. Ferries to all the other Melanesian Islands leave from Fortuna Bay, as well as one to Tashmara, Uzbekistan and Solomon. The airport is the hub of three major airlines, Melanesian Air, Fortuna 3000 and Air Carteria. The city's removed location, 100 km off the coast of Carteria, provides as an excellent transfer and departure point for flights into Carteria or abroad.
The city's education and library system is the envy of the entire Carterian continent. Four large universities are located in Fortuna Bay, including the University of Southern Carteria. The city's large, educated population also have access to a truly integrated transit system, which is so reliable and efficient, most of the populace does not own cars.
