The Republic of Brickburgia is a very large, economically powerful nation, notable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 104 million are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.
The large, corrupt, pro-business government juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Commerce. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 17%. A healthy private sector is led by the Gambling, Furniture Restoration, and Door-to-door Insurance Sales industries.
Military spending is on the increase, military spending recently hit a new high, parents are held criminally responsible for their children's crimes, and the study of medicine is popular throughout Brickburgia. Crime is a problem. Brickburgia's national animal is the spotted owl, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the brickburger.
