General Overview

The Kingdom of BlarneyStonia is a large, socially progressive nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its compassionate, cynical population of 36 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The enormous, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Welfare, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 38%, but much higher for the wealthy. A robust private sector is led by the Door-to-door Insurance Sales, Cheese Exports, and Automobile Manufacturing industries.

The nation is currently revamping its entire education system, naturists are jailed regularly for indecent exposure, foreigners are treated with great suspicion, and the government's religious works are headed by a New Age guru. Crime is totally unknown. BlarneyStonia's national animal is the blarnian stone-fish and its currency is the blarney.

History Of BlarneyStonia

Originally founded by a collection of indigenous tribes, BlarneyStonia spent several decades as a vassal state of the Violence And Chaos dictatorship. The Royal Family ruled in exile until a revolution in late November of 2005 reinstated the McCale clan as the true rulers of BlarneyStonia.

Original Inhabitants

The area where the political unit of BlarneyStonia now sits was originally inhabited by several Celtic tribes. Although there are only five traditionally recognized tribes, recent archeological finds indicate there may have been as many and twenty-three tribes during various prehistoric eras. It is known for certain, however, that as of C.E. 229 there were only five tribes remaining, which would form a mutually beneficial coalition, and the predecessor of BlarneyStonia. This state remained unchanged for nearly a thousand years. In 1215, political and military pressure forced this coalition of tribes to solidify into what would become the modern Blarneystonia.

The Royal Family

The newly formed nation needed a commonly respected, legitimate authority for the disparate peoples to follow. The tribal heads unanimously selected Evrik McCale, the ruler of the small feif of South End, and a philosopher of great repute. A patrilinear monarchy was founded around the McCale clan, that to this day has not changed.

BlarneyStonia Under The Rule Of Violence And Chaos

In 1945, shortly after the end of World War II, BlarneyStonia's neighbor state, the Most Serene Republic of Violence and Chaos, took control after an assault on the Royal Household in BlarnyStonia City. The VAC's coup d'etat was only partially successful; the country had fallen, but the royal family escaped and set up a government in exile. For sixty years, the Blarnians had to endure the oppression of VAC's despotic rule. However, when VAC's ruler died suddenly in early November of 2005, the Blarnian people took advantage of the sudden internal power struggle of their foreign overlords to break away, and call back the McCales from exile to rightfully rule once more.

The nation is now rightfully under His Imperial Majesty, The Rightful King John McCale III.

At 16 million inhabitants, BlarnyStonia City is by far the largest city in the nation. Other notably large cities include Castle Point, home of the BlarnyStonia Military Academy, and Port Corrae, BlarneyStonia's primary economic inlet.
