Template talk:Welcome
The welcome message is designed as a quick reference quide for newly registered NSwiki users. For editors identified only by their IP address, it is usually better to use {{subst:anon}} or one of the other Template messages.
A quick way to identify a new user is that both their User page and Talk page show up as red links. If you want to volunteer to help out new users, feel free to add {{subst:welcome}} ~~~~ to their talk page. You should always sign the Welcome message with ~~~~, so that new users have an obvious place for questions. You might also want to customise your sig to give quick and easy access to your own Talk page.
Technical: When you use {{subst:welcome}} instead of just {{welcome}}, it will copy the wikicode of current version of the template to the user page like you had typed it in directly - thus the source is hidden and less confusing. -- Frisbeeteria Θtalk

Happy editing!]], they still showed up as the confusing {{PAGENAME}}, which also made it clear they were being 'templated'. If this causes any obvious problems, revert it, and let me know. Gruen2alk 02:08, 3 December 2005 (GMT)</nowiki>
