Vetalian culture has been influenced by the nation's incredibly strong economic growth and liberal policies in regard to civil rights. Many of the poorer systems are shocked by what they percieve as the decadence and extravagance of the wealthy Vetalians, and on the more socially liberal planets "Vetalian" is used disparagingly to refer to any kind of profiglate or wasteful spending, particularly in regard to physical luxuries and pursuit of pleasure. Indeed, Vetalian society places a far higher value on material wealth and comfort than other societies, and encourages citizens to indulge in them as much as possible. Virtually all types of entertainment are legal; Vetalian law enforcement prefers to divert its resources to more serious crimes, and by eliminating the black market created by prohibition the legal code weakens organized crime at the same time.

Vetalia also boasts a well developed cultural heritage, with numerous luminaries in literature, architecture, horticulture, performing arts, music, metalworking and innumerable forms of sculpture and painting. The nation's cultural centers are well-funded and expansive, with cultural institutions spread across the entire planet to encourage and revive local cultural styles.
