Geography: Dagnia is on the southern hemisphere of the planet Kinsei (金星). The eastern and central part of the country is rugged, mostly mountains, deserts, and scrub, with many active volcanoes. The western part of the nation is mostly grassland with a few forests. The western part of the country borders the ocean.

Climate: Dagnia has extremely cold winters and extremely hot summers. In the central part in the summer, days are hot, while nights are freezing. In the west, the weather may be a bit milder and more humid.

Population: The government keeps little data on the population and has no formal census. It is believed to be about 800 million, and while it grows rapidly, there is no data on actual growth.

Ethnic makeup: Little information is available on ethnic makeup, but it is believed to be evenly divided into sixths between Polish, Irish, Austrian, German, Japanese and others. The others category is believed to grow fastest because Dagnia allows many different reasons for political asylum claims.

Philosophy/Religion: 90% are believed to be Objectivists, adherents of Ayn Rand's Objectivism philosophy. Just about all of the galaxy's major religions are represented in the remaining 10, but mostly include other Aristotelians, Nietzscheans, Christians, Jews, Pagans and Existentialists.

Language: Dagnia has created its own language. Modeled partially on east Asian languages, words consist of monosyllablic "units of meaning", and words that denote similar concepts have similar sound (sui is water, su is hydrogen, kin is gold, ki is metal). Most words were borrowed from the On-yomi (Sino-Japanese) readings of Kanji characters. A modified version of the Korean Hangeul alphabet is used for writing and includes separate letters for L and R, plus a few other vowels. Kanji is also used on storefronts, headings of official documents and for official placenames. The language, both spoken and written takes half the time to learn as Esparanto.

Government: The government of Dagnia is mostly modeled after that of the United States. Three branches include the National Council, the High Court and the Chief Executive. The Chief Executive makes day-to-day decisions alone, while anything that changes the nation significantly must go through the Council. After a bill is passed and signed by the Chief Executive, the High Court reviews it for constitutionality. *Meetings are held through the Holonet, eliminating the need for any official capital.

         -Political parties
-The Liberal Party: (57% of High council, 54% of total population) Believes in the "Nightwatchman State", minimal government regulation of the economy or people's personal lives, that the government should be limited to the police, military and courts.
-The Conservative Libertarian Party: (32% of High council, 35% of total population) Believes in a minimal welfare state, with a small amount of regulation of business and personal behavior.
-The Market Anarchist Party: (11% of Council and total population) Believes the government should be privatised, and broken into "competing governments".

Note: Party names are not consistant with the 20th/21st century use of the terms. The Liberal Party is called liberal because it actually is liberal, i.e. free-thinking. The Conservative Libertarians are conservative and libertarian because they generally agree with fiscal conservatism and social liberalism, but do not take it as far as more radical libertarians.

Economy: Dagnia's Economy is one of the most powerful in the Nationstates Universe. The government intervenes only in cases of force and fraud. The nation produces some of the universe's finest weapons and mines the best uranium. *Precious metals are traded as currency in the form of coins, bars or just hunks of metal. Printing fiat money is unconstitutional.
