The Gulf of Vasconia refers both to the great gulf bordered and nearly landlocked on all sides by Nabarro Abarca and to the saltwater sea situated between Vasconia and Ambara bounded on the east by the Gulf Islands and historically considered a continuation of the gulf. The Gulf of Vasconia is bounded on the north and west by Nabarro Abarca and the gulf proper is also bounded by Nabarro Abarca on the south. In its broader sense, the gulf is bounded on the south by Abt and to the east by the Gulf Islands, which include the various islands of Hipolis and New Deasrargle. The entire area, including the uninhabited Gulf Islands, Hipolis,. New Deasrargle, Abt and Nabarro Abarca are referred to as the Gulf Area.

The Gulf's deepest point is the Great Trough between Hipolis and New Deasrargle. The trouhh is 7,115 feet below sea level. The coastline of the Gulf has many smaller gulfs and bays, including a number of natural harbors.
