Introduction

From the beginning, The Burnsian Desert's landscape has been marred by war and conflict. Walking through any of the major cities, you will see buildings gutted out by bombs, craters left unrepaired in the streets, and mutilated soldiers begging for money on the corners. The first official conflict in the Desert's history was the Glorious Revolution, where the first Burnsian dictator, General MacGonzo, was overthrown by the popular revolutionary movement. After several years of warlords fighting against each other, one man (whose name has been lost to history) emerged as the National President. This man, known now only as The First, reorganized the government and created the basic template for modern Burnsian government.

History

From the beginning, The Burnsian Desert's landscape has been marred by war and conflict. Walking through any of the major cities, you will see buildings gutted out by bombs, craters left unrepaired in the streets, and mutilated soldiers begging for money on the corners.

The Sal'Path Conference

The Desert itself was a product of several different ancient clans binding together to fight enemies past the southern border. In 12 AD, the nation solidified, and these clans came to form one ruling government entity, called The Sal'path Conference. In ancient Burnsian, Sal'path means 'foe of my foe'. The Conference was formed of represenatives from the six different Burnsian clans. These representatives were chosen via different methods, from voting, to sending the oldest person in the clan, to a lottery. Suffice to say, the Conference did not always agree on matters, and was split up in 571 AD. After the breakup, the nation was plunged back in the the dark ages, with warring clans vying for supremacy.

The First

The first official conflict in the Desert's history was the Glorious Revolution, in 1215 AD. In this war, the first Burnsian dictator, General MacGonzo, was overthrown by the popular revolutionary movement. After several years of warlords fighting against each other, one man (whose name has been lost to history) emerged as the National President. This man, known now only as The First, reorganized the government and created the basic template for modern Burnsian government.

This government was composed of two branches, the Legislate and the Military. Power over all rested with the Legislate, whose leader was the President. The First made himself President, and he controlled the ratification of laws. He was advised by seven Scholars, whom were trained in different aspects of civil affairs. The Military was controlled by the President-General, who answered to the President. The President-General controls the military of The Burnsian Desert. Over the years, the power over the country has changed hands between the President-General and the President many, many times.

The Burnsian Desert Today

In modern times, The Burnsian Desert has gone through several government and military changes, including the rivalry between Her Highness Queen Rachel Romalia and President-General Mitchell C. Craig for the throne. The country is just now emerging from decades of isolation from the outside world. The Burnsian State Administration is in the process of finding out which nations are willing to make diplomatic contact. Military

Introduction

The Burnsian Royal military has gone through several incarnations over the centuries, from the Burnsian Royal Guard, to the Burnsian Pirate Guard, to today's Burnsian Military. Several years ago, military commanders elected to consolidate the confusing and extensive Burnsian Royal Air Guard, the Burnsian Royal Ground Guard, the Burnsian Royal Sea Guard, the Burnsian Royal Elite Guard, and the Burnsian Royal Defense Guard into one, unified military entity: the Burnsian Military. This central organization is split up into two Departments: Land and Sea. The Land Department has charge over all ground and air forces, except the Burnsian Helljumpers and Burnsian Wardogs. The Sea Department administrates all sea assets, as well as Burnsian Special Forces (Helljumpers and Wardogs).

The Land Department

The Land Department is headquartered in the Royal Palace in Highfather, TBD's capital city. The Palace compound itself is tiny compared to the vast underground network of tunnels, storage chambers, and other elements. It is impossible to know how far the network extends since all the entrances are concealed. It is surmised that entire buildings in Highfather are nothing but massive exhaust vents.

This department has provision over all Armored Cavalry, Artillery, Ground Transport, Infantry, Heavy Armored Cavalry, Land Logistics, Intelligence, NBC Warfare, Space Defense, and Special Land Recon. Total manpower comes to 63.2 million.

The Sea Department

The Sea Department is based at Regal Naval Base, a 90 sq.mi. facility in The Burnsian Desert's largest city of Regal. The port is capable of docking thousands of ships using a revolutionary 'turntable' drydock system. This facility is protected by several batteries of railguns that can sink ships as far out as 500 miles.

The responsibilites of this department cover Carrier Action Groups, Submersibles, Attack Groups, Combat Patrol Groups, Burnsian Helljumper and Wardog Special Forces, Coastal Defense, Marines, and Sea Transport.
