Navira was originally an independent nation with a substantial history and culture. The Phoenix Milita finally brought Navira under its dominion in late 2005 and finalized the provincial status in June of 2006

History

Navira is an tropical island nation located in the Central Pacific Ocean. Pirates crash landed here in 1799 and soon became friendly with the native Navirians teaching them the little things that they knew about western technology and engineering. No contact with the western world would ever be made again for many years.

Then in 1945, a lost PT boat washed ashore along with injured and dieing US Navy sailors. The sailors were grateful and as thanks they taught the Navirians, and the decedents of the pirates, the ways of the modern world. They finally found a use for all that thick black substance that was bubbling out of the valley(crude oil)! The sailors repaired their boat and were able to return home a year later with a full load of fuel from the newly found reserves. The sailors must have contacted the State Department because in 1949 a large vessel came to Navira with gifts from the US government. Donated were hulks of iron and steel, farming equipment, electric generators and a lot of books! Of course the Americans wanted access to the oil, but the Navirians would have none of that. A short skirmish resulting in 2 serious injuries on either side led to the Americans withdrawal from Navira only 4 days after arriving.

Again Navira was to go without contact with the western world for quite some time.

About 50 years later, a civilian cargo ship (flagged Tyrador which had been taking on water sailed towards Navira so that they could run it aground, thus saving the cargo. They never expected that there would be friendly intelligent natives on the island who would repair their ship. In thanks they gave Navira 4 Iriduim Satellite phones and a laptop computer. This opened the doors permanently. With the newfound access to the modern world via the internet, Navirans began advancing tremulously, concrete buildings began to replace many of the grass huts and dirt roads were paved with asphalt. Most homes had electricity and running water by 2003 and Naviria had a large shipping industry. Strategically located, Navira offered its harbors to the world's cargo ships for refuel and repair(for a small fee of course) In 2004 Navira received a generous donation from The Phoenix Milita, the navy of which had been using Navira's docks and ports. With this money they were able to buy modern submarines, helicopters and ships. This would turn out to be a grievous error on TPM's part, since they immediately began striking out aggressively against powerful nations in coordinated terrorist style attacks. Only 1 year later, those same weapons would be used against the Phoenix Milita which would be the final straw.

The Phoenix Milita, however, being so much more powerful than Navira, was able to force the unconditional surrender in less than 48 hours with only 5 deaths and 4,500 wounded reported. The mysterious disappearance of a city, its 5 million inhabitants and nearly 2 million additional Navirain men and boys between the ages of 14 and 30 is still unsolved and blamed on a tsunami which coincidently occurred near the start of hostilities...

Today

Following the surrender of Navira, several million people emigrated to other nations or nearby island chains, but the bulk of the population remains, with only an estimated 5 million non-indigenous Phoenix Militants permanently residing there today (excluding military). Navira is an included destination in the Phoenix Cruise Lines and is serviced by a single international airport, which doubles as a military base, and 4 smaller airfields. The main industry has been tourism since 2005 but in 2006, Navira's southeast coast was devastated by an oil spill. International cleanup efforts have allowed the tourist industry to recover only recently.
