The Dictatorship of Kingladn
The Dictatorship of Kingladn was created in May 2005 for the NationStates game.
NationStates entry as of 10 June 2005
UN Category: Psychotic Dictatorship
Civil Rights: Few, Economy: Reasonable, Political Freedoms: Outlawed
Location: United Republics of the World
The Dictatorship of Kingladn is a very large, devout nation, renowned for its punitive income tax rates. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 108 million are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Religion & Spirituality. The average income tax rate is 55%, and even higher for the wealthy. A large private sector is dominated by the Automobile Manufacturing industry.
Birds and children's kites are regularly brought down by anti-aircraft fire, Rupert Bear is considered to be the most risqué TV program in Kingladn, teachers regularly paddle unruly students, and movies and computer games are strictly censored for violence. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Kingladn's national animal is the anaconda, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Kingladn dollar.
Kingladn National Song
Loch Lomond
By yon bonnie banks and by yon bonnie braes, Where the sun shines bright on Loch Lomond Where me and my true love were ever wont to gae, On the bonnie, bonnie banks o’ Loch Lomond.
O ye’ll tak’ the high road and I’ll tak’ the low road, And I’ll be in Scotland afore ye. But me and my true love will never meet again, On the bonnie, bonnie banks o’ Loch Lomond.
‘Twas there that we parted in yon shady glen, On the steep, steep side o’ Ben Lomond. Where in deep purple hue, the hieland hills we view, And the moon comin’ out in the gloamin’.
O ye’ll tak’ the high road and I’ll tak’ the low road, And I’ll be in Scotland afore ye. But me and my true love will never meet again, On the bonnie, bonnie banks o’ Loch Lomond.
The wee birdies sing and the wild flowers spring, And in sunshine the waters are sleeping: But the broken heart, it kens nae second spring again, Tho’ the waefu’ may cease from their greeting.
O ye’ll tak’ the high road and I’ll tak’ the low road, And I’ll be in Scotland afore ye. But me and my true love will never meet again, On the bonnie, bonnie banks o’ Loch Lomond.

Born on July 1, 1959 in the highlands of Kingladn, Charles Wilhelm is the oldest of five children to Robert and Valarie Wilhelm.
Charles graduated from Prarie High School in the spring of 1978. Right after high school, he married eighteen year-old Carri Blazynski of Kingladn City. Charles attended the University of Kingladn City from 1978-1982. Also in 1982, he and his wife had a son which they named Charles Jr. Charles then began his political career. He was elected to the lower house of Kingladn Parliament in a special election in 1988. After serving six years, Charles ran for the upper house of the Parliament in 1994 and won. He served there for six years, and managed to capture his party's nomination for president in 2000. After convincing Kingladn that President Johnston, the incumbent, was wrecking the nation, Charles won by a landslide in November.
His first term was filled with conservative reform of the government, slashed taxes, and increased military spending. When reelection rolled around in 2004, President Wilhelm won by a landslide larger than four years prior. Confident the nation wanted him president, Wilhelm issued Order 87 and temporarily abolished Parliament and Kingladn's Supreme Court. After a special election in which supporters of President Wilhelm were "elected," he reinstated Parliament and appointed pro-monarchy judges to sit on the Supreme Court's benches. President Wilhelm then announced he had appointed himself King of Kingladn, the first monarch since 1795.
King Charles rules Kingladn fairly, but oppressively. Charles often appoints Parliament members and is known to kick Supreme Court judges off the bench after 6 months. So far, the longest lasting judge on the Kingladn Supreme Court was Judge Luke Reinke, serving almost a year and a half, being executed for voting against a pro-monarchy legislation on trial before the Supreme Court. It was a 4-1 vote.
The king is married to Queen Carri and has three children; Crown Prince Charles II (heir apparent), Prince John, and Prince Alex. They live in the Royal Palace in Kingladn City overlooking the River Vhil.
Order 87
The last Presidential Executive Order and first Royal Order issued in 2005 by President Charles Wilhelm, effectively founded the Kingladn monarchy after 210 years, but also did the following:
Order 87a
President Wilhelm is hereby granted the title of King of Kingladn while retaining all powers of the former presidency, thus remaining president for life while ruling as king, and also assuming all powers of the Parliament. Abolishing the Parliament of Kingladn, sentencing every member to death and called for a special election.
Order 87b
Abolishing the Supreme Court of Kingladn, sentencing every justice to death and announced the pending reappointment of judges by the new king.
Order 87c
All living former Presidents of Kingladn are sentenced to death.
Order 87d
The Constitution of the Republic of Kingladn is null and void. The new king will draft a new Constitution, in which upon his signature, shall become law.
Order 87e
All citizens of Kingladn shall be required to take a loyalty oath to the God, King, and Country every morning.
Order 87f
All male citizens must serve six (6) years in the Kingladn Armed Forces immediately after their high school graduation.
Order 87g
The king and his family shall own all land in Kingladn and the people who live on that land shall pay taxes in proportion with the size of the plot. This includes, but is not limited to, residential, commerical, and industrial zoned areas.
Order 87 took immediate effect upon President Wilhelm's signature in May 2005.

Kingladn-Armyof1 War
Due to the complete lack of respect showed by the United States of Armyof1, and it's failure to pay its yearly tribute of $19.99 to King Charles I, a State of War was declared on the 10 day of June 2005, exactly one month after King Charles assumed the throne. The Royal Army of Kingladn, along with the Royal Navy and Royal Republican Guard, have been called up. Their numbers amount to 52,920,000 troops combined. Strategic bombing of Armyof1's cities began minutes after war was declared. The war continues to this day.
