Mikitivity Rote Kreuz

Founded in 1887, the Mikitivity Rote Kreuz (also known as Mikitivity Red Cross), is a humanitarian organization that promotes disaster and emergency prevention and response in Mikitivity. Today the organization is also active in international humanitarian efforts, working under the auspieces of the International Red Cross Organization.

Though headquartered in Miervatia, the organization has chapters in all of the cantons in Mikitivity. These cantons directly collect and store material for domestic or international emergencies.

Staffed by volunteers and funded by private donates and public grants, it is said to be the realization of "people helping people". The Rote Kreuz is responsible for training so many volunteer and professional first responders, that the government has made it common practice to seek the organizations opinion on most disaster preparation and relief plans.

Blood Donation

The Rote Kreuz is the largest collector of blood donations in Mikitivity, and is so effective at collecting donations, that Mikitivity Rote Kreuz is one of the larger donors of blood to the United Nations' World Blood Bank.

Disaster Services

Each year, the Mikitivity Rote Kreuz responds immediately to disasters, including house or apartment fires (the majority of disaster responses), blizzards, floods, landslides, earthquakes, tornadoes, hazardous materials spills, transportation accidents, explosions, and other natural and man-made disasters.

Although the Rote Kreuz is not a government agency, its authority to provide disaster relief was chartered by the cantons to "carry on a system of national and international relief in time of peace and apply the same in mitigating the sufferings caused by pestilence, famine, fire, floods, and other great calamities, and to devise and carry on measures for preventing the same." This dual role in disaster response and prevention has led Mikitivity Rote Kreuz to being active in advocating for disaster prevention and mitigation on both with the City States and internationally.

The Red Cross also feeds emergency workers, handles inquiries from concerned family members outside the disaster area, provides blood and blood products to disaster victims, and helps those affected by disaster to access other available resources.

Health and Safety Services

The Rote Kreuz also works hard to encourage preparedness by providing important literature on readiness. Many chapters also offer free classes to the general public, such as mountain hiking and survival, swimming, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and first responder courses.

International Services

The Mikitivity Rote Kreuz is involved with many important international projects, most recently in Neo Tyr. The organization is perhaps best known for its mountain disaster response teams, which are composed of volunteer engineers and doctors. The Rote Kreuz also handles international tracing requests for families who have been separated by war or disaster and are trying to locate relatives overseas. Finally, the Mikitivity Rote Kreuz, funds and provides staff to the International Red Cross Organization.

Military Services

Although not a goverment agency, the Mikitivity Rote Kreuz provides important services to the Mikitivity military. The most noteable service is emergency family communications, where families can contact the organization to send important family messages (e.g. death in the family, or new birth). In such cases, the Rote Kreuz can also act as a verifying agency of the situation.

Through its close ties with the military, it is often able to ship experts to other countries on Mikitivity military transports.
