Roleplaying acronym for Out-of-Character. Adjectival/adverbal form is OOCly. This is information shared from one player to another, usually either out of courtesy or out of a need to form a consensus over the effects of in character actions. Optimally, OOC information does not affect the responses of characters or players, although it usually does (see Metagaming).
Its converse is In-Character or IC statements, which are 'real' events that 'really' happened.
