The 2006 Honor Guard Cup brought soccer to a wider audience within the region. People who had never watched a match before sat, glued to their television, supporting their country, hopefully on to the finals.
For the first time, a regional sporting event had been held to bring together the nations of The Honor Guard in peace. In his opening ceremony speech, Ranos tec'Narwah, the Narweighan President, applauded all who would take part in the regions largest unification event and pleaded with all involved to let the event pass in peace.

Group Stages
The group stages saw each of the sixteen participating teams seperated into four groups of four teams. Each team would play the others once, with three points availabe for a win, one for a draw and none for a defeat. At the end of the six group games, the top two teams would advance to the next stage.
Should two teams finish level on points at the end, adjudicators will go by goal difference. Should the deadlock still stand adjudicators will look to who has conceded less goals. Should it yet again remain tied, adjudictors will look to the result of the game between the two countries. Should this again fail to produce a winner, lots will be drawn.
