There were 472,010,026 valid votes cast.
The Social Democratic-Green alliance won 138 seats; the Liberal-Conservative alliance won 78. The Liberal Democrats won 2 seats.
The great success of the third general election was the left-wing Green Party. They added 33% of their seat share and almost a quarter of their vote share. They drove the Social Democrats to the left and increased their representation in the Lord Shackleford's Cabinet; Labour Minister the Hon. Charles Yungtiàr, a Social Democrat, was replaced by Green Lord Healey.
