Alliance for Reform and Values in the NationStates United Nations

ARVNSUN was established in the place of Pilot United Nations News Service, which was dissolved on April 1st, 2005 by an act of the Senate Assembly. Its main purpose, as the International Reform Act reads, has both traditionally liberal and conservative views

Liberal views

  • Remove vague & repeated resolutions from the U.N. rolls
  • Remove superseded resolutions from the U.N. rolls
  • Strengthen the quality of international education systems
  • Further restrict the use of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons
  • Ban the death penalty for use with mentally incompetent and juvenile convicts
  • Increase sex education in conjuction to carve the AIDS population

Conservative views

  • Ban partial-birth abortion
  • Restrict the legality of prostitution
  • Expand free trade areas

Results

Up to this point, it is unclear what effect ARVNSUN has had on recent United Nations resolutions. However, if its predecessor (PUNNS) is any judge, the organization could be responsible for the defeat or the passage of many future proposals.
