Alyssa Konstantinovna Petrova (born 25 February 1972) is a Kahanistanian Nationalist politician and former military officer. She is best known outside Kahanistan for pornographic photos of her in an international magazine, taken of her while on duty. These photographs were the subject of intense controversy regarding her fitness as a politician.
Early life
Alyssa Petrova was born in Najaster, Kahanistan (now Iudaea Province, Doomanum) on 25 February 1972, to Konstantin and Ekaterina Petrova, Russian immigrants leaving Communist rule. She had one younger brother, Alexei, who would later join her in the Republic Guard.
Petrova traces her decision to join the military to an event that happened when she was 11 years old. A terrorist group planted a bomb in a high school across the street from where she was enrolled. Reserve Republic Guards were called in, and they freed the dozen or so hostages that were held. Petrova, against the advice of school security and teachers, watched the entire event from her classroom window.
In 1985, at age 13, she enrolled in the eight-year combined officer training / civilian education curriculum at Kahanistan Military Academy, graduating in 1993 with a B.A. in political science.
Military career
In 1993, Petrova was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Republic Guard. Most of her first year of service was spent enrolled in Special Combat Service training, the completion of which in 1994 earned her a promotion to First Lieutenant and command of a squad of SCS soldiers.
In 1998, Petrova, by then a Captain, was deployed to the Sharia-dominated state of Lower East Wahabiland, one of the few operations she is known to have served in that is not classified. It was upon the successful completion of her mission, believed to be the capture of an arms cache to transfer to the resistance, that the pornographic photographs of her found in Alldoor Action nine years later are believed to have been taken,
She would turn down an offer of promotion to Major in 1999 to leave the military and devote her life to politics and raising a family.
Political life
Upon entering politics, Petrova would join the Conservative Party, running for Senate and holding a seat from 2000 to the present day. When Kahanistan was invaded by Doomingsland, and many senators were lost, Petrova was one who did not trust the Dominion of Transylvania, and was lightly wounded in an ensuing scuffle. She denies rumors that she was raped or otherwise sexually mistreated by the Transylvanians.
Petrova is a staunch nationalist, favoring restrictions on acceptance of foreign aid, emphasis on domestic weapon designs, and harsh punitive actions taken against nations that attack Kahanistan, especially its civilian populations.
During the pornographic photo scandal, Petrova debated against several politicians and clergy who accused her of being immoral or a liability in the field, maintaining that her personal life is irrelevant to her ability as an officer or a politician.
She is one of the few major figures in the Nationalist Party to resist the tide of anti-Catholicism sweeping the party, even speaking against fellow Nationalist Senator Aristakis Nikolatos and his partner Ruth Lipshitz, who had teamed together to produce an extremely anti-Catholic show titled For the Children!
Personal life
Petrova was married to Mahmud Samjani from 1999 to 2002. They have one son, Gregor (born 1999). Gregor suffered taunting at school relating to the photographs of his mother, and was recently arrested for stabbing two students and a police officer in one particularly intense brawl.
She is currently engaged in his defense, but local politicians have been engaged in a "get-tough" campaign on crime after the lawlessness following the displacement of the Kahanistanian state to Haven.
